To provide a safe space for kids to gather and create art while strengthening social-emotional skills and foster a sense of community.
Welcome to Creative Kids Community!
I am Meghan Jackson, a mom, former Elementary School Teacher, Licensed Social Worker and owner of Creative Kids Community. As the leader of each class, my goal is to create a welcoming environment for kids to create and express themselves. At the same time, we work on strengthening their social and emotional skills while building a sense of community.
Each class is themed around an engaging arts and crafts activity. Classes begin with a welcome song and reciting of affirmations to set the tone for connection and community. The class’ theme will be introduced and a connected story book will be read to the group. Each connected story is thoughtfully selected to entertain and teach important life skills. Your creative kid will then be led to design their artwork or craft. Completion of the class will be circle time where students individually share about their work to support their confidence, public speaking skills and summation of their project (strengthening executive functioning skills). Other students are guided to support and engage with the presenter to strengthen their socialization skills. All components of class are thoughtfully designed to support social and emotional growth and build a sense of belonging and community.
FOR THE REMAINING CLASSES
IN MARCH AND ALL CLASSES IN APRIL, 50% OF THE PROCEEDS WILL BE SUPPORTING THE SERAPHINE FAMILY. MRS. SERAPHINE IS A BELOVED TEACHER AT SUMMIT ELEMENTARY. HER SON IS CURRENTLY UNDERGOING TREATMENT FOR LEUKEMIA. MONIES
RAISED WILL HELP THE FAMILY’S EXTRA EXPENSES AS THEY GO THROUGH THIS JOURNEY. OUR CLASSES CENTER ON THE CONCEPT OF COMMUNITY, AND IT IS OUR HONOR TO COME TOGETHER AND HAVE THESE CLASSES SUPPORT THE SERAPHINE FAMILY. WE HOPE YOU WILL JOIN US IN SUPPORT TOO. Additional classes will be added in the next 24 hours, including Easter themed arts and crafts so please check back tomorrow.
Parents are always welcome to drop their child off or stay and observe in our gathering spot. Classes take place in our home utilizing our main living area and seating is available for parents. Kids are welcome to wear their play clothes as we are creating and can get a bit messy. Please note we ask for shoes to be removed at the door as kids often like to sprawl out on the ground for freedom of space while creating. A “no outside shoes worn inside” policy helps to keep the floor cleaner with less exposure to dirt and bacteria. Leak proof drink bottles are welcome (please label your child’s name) but snacks are not allowed to respect potential direct exposure to food allergens.
CONTINUING THE LESSON: Parents will receive paperwork that will accompany their child home that will include the name of the themed read-aloud book, affirmations and a social-emotional learning concept to practice for the week. I will include several ideas of how to incorporate the concept to support the social emotional growth of your artist!

Ages 4–10 are the typical ages seen for these classes.
However, 3 year olds have great success with a simpler, modified project. Parents of younger children often stay in the class and support their child so that they can have more individualized attention.
Children older than 10 are also welcome and typically create more elaborate projects and enjoy more creative freedom. The connected read-aloud stories are typically more appropriate for a younger audience; however, the stories are fun and engaging and provide a much deeper meaning in our classes than just entertainment. Ithe past, I have had older children share with me that they enjoyed hearing the stories of their younger childhood come alive again.
When two or more children are registered at the same time, a 20% discount is given for each participant. This makes the cost $20 per student, which includes project materials.
It is parent and/or caregivers preference to stay for the class or leave. There is seating available in the main living area, which is where the classes take place. Parents are welcome to stay and either relax and sit down or participate with their child by lending support during their project. It is recommended if your child is three years old, that an adult stays with them to provide individualized support. parents are welcome to also stay in their cars during class time. All participants are required to provide parents name and contact information in case of emergency.
Classes are one hour and 15 minutes long. This allows us to have a comprehensive curriculum that supports creativity, social and emotional learning, and building a sense of community among participants. This also gives parents and/or caregivers a bit of time to run a quick errand if they choose to do so while their kids participate.
A maximum of 12 students can enroll in each class.
